The Next Changemakers

We’re excited to announce that the Kamoa Centre of Excellence (KCE) has welcomed 37 young Congolese scholars to our 2025–2026 bursary program!

This year’s selection process was competitive, drawing hundreds of applicants from the Greater Katanga region and neighboring Kamoa-Kakula communities. After a series of interviews and assessments, we’re proud to support a diverse group of students who are eager to shape the future of their communities and the DRC.

Orientation Day on June 25 marked the start of their journey, with skills assessments in mathematics, science, and English, and the signing of bursary agreements. These results will help us tailor each student’s learning experience.

Starting September 1, our fully funded, one-year program, which is run in partnership with the University of Pretoria, blends academic with real-world skills and a mining sector focus. Scholars will study English, Mathematics, Science, Computer Studies, and mining fundamentals, as well as ethics, communication, personal finance, and entrepreneurship.

Program Director Nathalie Vounck shared, “We look forward to seeing these graduates become future leaders capable of transforming their communities, industry, and our country.”

Congratulations to the 2025 cohort! Here’s to a year of growth, discovery, and opportunity.
