Kamoa-Kakula recently celebrated the graduation of the third cohort of the Kamoa Centre of Excellence (KCE), marking an important milestone for 37 students who successfully completed the programme in partnership with the University of Pretoria.
Established to help talented young Congolese prepare for higher education and future careers, the programme combines academic learning in science, technology and mathematics with personal development, leadership, communication and English-language training. By equipping students with a strong academic foundation and essential life skills, KCE helps open doors to further education and new opportunities. Several graduates from the programme have already secured scholarships to continue their studies in the DRC and abroad.
Among the graduates was Placide Tabaro, from Goma, who finished first in his cohort. He credited the programme with strengthening his skills, building his confidence and inspiring him to contribute to the future development of the DRC.
Fellow graduate Rodrigue Nawej, from the Mwilu community, also reflected on the programme’s impact. He described how the experience helped him recognize his strengths and gain a clearer understanding of his future career path.
Their experiences reflect the programme’s broader ambition: to give young people the knowledge, confidence and direction to pursue their goals and contribute to their communities and country.
The impact is also felt by families. One parent described the graduation as a proud milestone, highlighting the positive change in their child’s confidence and the wider opportunities now available to them.
Investing in the next generation
The Kamoa Centre of Excellence reflects Kamoa-Kakula’s commitment to education and skills development, helping young Congolese build the foundations for long-term personal and professional success.
Congratulating the KCE Class of 2026, Kamoa-Kakula thanked the University of Pretoria for its continued partnership and shared commitment to education and opportunity.
As the third cohort moves on to pursue further studies and future careers, their achievements represent a promising investment in the next generation of Congolese talent and the future of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
