Meet Esther Nira, the first female equipment operator at KICO, shattering long-held gender norms in the industry. Esther’s journey is a testament to her belief that no trade should be considered exclusive to men. Her story is a reminder that courage and determination are the true keys to success.

Graduating from the National Pedagogical University (UPN) in commerce and administration, Esther began her career in the mining industry as a security guard. She quickly transitioned to the Commercial Department, where she excelled in marketing.

Inspired by a friend, Esther embarked on a new path as an equipment operator. After completing her technical training, she was hired as an Articulated Dump Truck Operator.

But Esther’s ambition doesn’t stop with her own achievements. She is passionate about inspiring other women at KICO to follow in her footsteps. By showcasing her dedication and hard work, Esther hopes to pave the way for more women to enter and excel in traditionally male-dominated trades.

As a proud native of Kipushi, Esther’s achievements hold personal significance. She is honored to shine in her hometown and is dedicated to making a positive impact on her community. Esther Nira’s journey is not just a personal victory but a beacon of hope and inspiration for many.
