Ivanhoe Mines is committed to achieving the highest performance in occupational health and safety with the aim of creating and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment throughout its businesses. The prevention of serious accidents and injuries is one of the company's top priorities.
The following specific commitments are contained in the Ivanhoe Mines Statement of Values and Responsibilities:
Safe and Healthy Jobs, Skills Training and the Right to Work
We are committed to the principle that people on our project sites and in our offices work in safe and healthy conditions and receive fair remuneration.
We respect the right to work for fair wages in safe and healthy conditions as a fundamental human right.
Worksites are designed to protect the safety and health of all workers. Routine inspections identify and remove, or minimize, potential hazards.
Safety training and protective equipment is provided for employees in hazardous work areas. Basic safetyawareness briefings and information materials are provided for all employees.
Employees are encouraged to immediately report unsafe equipment, practices or conditions.

Consistent with its goal of achieving the highest performance in occupational health and safety, Ivanhoe Mines:
- Seeks continuous improvement in its occupational health and safety performance taking into account evolving community expectations, management practices, scientific knowledge and technology;
- Complies with all applicable laws, regulations and standards and where adequate laws do not exist, adopt and apply standards that reflect the company's commitment to health and safety;
- Involves employees and contractors in the improvement of occupational health and safety performance;
- Trains and holds individual employees accountable for their area of responsibility;
- Manages risk by implementing management systems to identify, assess, monitor and control hazards and by reviewing performance;
- Ensures that all Ivanhoe Mines' employees, contractors and visitors understand their obligations in respect of this policy;
- Communicates openly with employees, government and the community on occupational health and safety issues; and contribute to the development of relevant occupational health and safety policy, legislation and regulations; and
- Supports relevant occupational health and safety research.
